Brandy May Be Charged With Manslaughter

The singer, full name Brandy Norwood, is alleged to have failed to slow down while driving her car on a Los Angeles freeway, causing a four-car collision which resulted in the death of 38 year-old Awatef Aboudihaj.

According to the Associated Press, the California Highway Patrol is alleging that Brandy was driving above a reasonable speed, and that she endangered the safety of other drivers and vehicles. They recommended on Monday (January 29) that she be charged with misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter. The city attorney's office is currently determining if the case will be filed with that charge. If charged, Norwood could face up to a year in jail, and a $1,000 fine.

Brandy has been a successful singer and actress since her teens. She is best known for her starring role on sitcom 'Moesha', and most recently appeared as a judge on 'America's Got Talent'.
